Description
Conception: I want to make Christie look pretty! Wait, that makes no sense. Having seen numerous tutorials about 'meshmods' I always had the idea of a base model with a ton of outfits.
Method: Load up XPS, choose model with desired outfit, follow guide, save the outfit.
Commentary: In not being the sharpest tack in the box it usually takes me a while to get started or even understand certain concepts in XPS and Blender. I'm making some slow progress, but like the tortoise I like to think I'm plodding along to these self identified goals. I have tried before but for some hazy reason I couldn't make it work. Having gone back to my Favourites gallery (Guides and tutorials) I re-read a particular guide by aydean, and by using it I could isolate and save the actual parts I wanted.
I suppose this means I can get started on a long thought of idea about having a base nude model with a lot of optional outfits to wear. More a technical exercise than anything else. The problem I currently do see is that nude models don't necessarily conform to the same physical measurements of the original model. I suspect this will either require a different nude model where it does fit in seamlessly, or (more likely) requiring to do some sculpting and tinkering in Blender to make the models match. The latter sounds like a real kerfuffle but I suspect it is what is needed to make it work the way I want to. Overly ambitious given my current skill set, I think, but something to aim for.
What use is this? Er... the main one I guess is getting different hairstyles to a model where the porters of the model didn't port a model with a particular hairstyle. More practically, depending on my own sustained interest, is the lesser need to keep searching for a particular model to load in XPS if I just have my favourite nude model with my favourite outfits and hairstyle. So... putting in a lot of thought, time and effort in being lazy...

Nice tutorial to make 'meshmods' easy Combining two models with XPS
The old turorial by aydean, using "Add to ...", was made before the 'merge models' was build in XPS
About "the same physical measurements", you can adjust the outfit with "Mode: Pose/Move/Scale"
