Introducing Christie (Cos008)

Description

Conception: Been trying to find a solution to transparency issues with textures (yeah, still not working out) I came across node set ups for other effects. I really like this particular costume of Christie's because of how it acts in the game with its glowing effect and wanted to see if I could replicate it, hence this attempt. It's not the cleavage, honest. Cough

Method: XPS: Load model, open Material editor.
Blender: Import model into model library, remove doubles, smooth non-hair meshes, use Material editor to set up textures in node set up. Use Rendered Viewport to check progress - get confused. Use GIMP to check textures. Reassign textures to specific meshes.
DOA5LR: Go into Spectator mode to grab some screenshots for reference purposes.
XPS: Attempt to recreate a pose from screenshots. Save pose.
Blender: Import pose. Adjust camera, backdrop and lighting parameters. Up sampling size. Render.

Commentary: I do like this particular costume of Christie's especially with this sleeker hairstyle. In the game I tend to have her wear shades... I guess it's helpful to reduce the glare from her outfit. "I do need to see what I'm hitting." As long as it isn't me... I set this up as normal but there was a minor issue with the parts which glow in the game. After resolving that I began the work of recreating one of her moves from the game. I wonder if that's really a shoryuken... "Hey!"

As outlined above, I decided to grab some screenshots from the game at different angles. Then used them as reference to copy in XPS. I'd like to think it's fairly accurate overall. I couldn't quite manage the expression - her ingame face is more serious. But my Christie here is posing for me... That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it. She's in mid-flight so this is a departure from the others I've added to the model library. As such I didn't have to pay attention to whether her feet clip into the floor. Also wanted to have her higher to show height in her move. Bumped up the Emission shader value for extra glow and toned the background to a darker colour in which to show it off. I kept the lighting low deliberately though I may have overdone the emission value for the suit...

Anyway... the extensive use of XPS for pose creation was fun, so I got pose practice (mind you, elbows are horribly restricted), new shader use and a render out of it. I would say this has been a fairly fruitful pursuit (for a change). I'm rather pleased with this.

This model does have some of the hallmarks of their work: texture naming and barely any doubles need removing; plus an additional piece of info which I believe confirms it which I won't mention here)
