Introducing Ada Wong in a dress

Description

Conception: After exploring the reasons why the initial attempts failed so spectacularly I set about correcting the issues to produce a better piece for the lovely Miss Wong. "And you better remember that!"

Method: Load up original Blender file, select a new vertex group for the main dress mesh to pin, adjust the physics to accommodate the new vertex group to pin, import a modified facial expression, render animation, choose frame, adjust camera angle, render.

Commentary: Ah... it's times like these when I'm glad to set up the model library I have in Blender; it cuts down the node and texture set up. Yep, lazy me. But then, it does shorten the time I spend on each piece I submit. I can use the 'extra' time on other things like pose tinkering, for example.

The original attempt had a certain 'lumpiness' with the dress at the hips. I thought this was due to the pinning of specific vertices too close to the hips and where the first bones were, so I created a new vertex group to account for this. Oddly, the lumpiness is still there in this but the camera angle somewhat mitigates the obvious flaws I see as the person setting this piece up. I do find this acceptable to go into my gallery properly though rather than another addition into Scraps.

I am rather pleased I managed to find a way to resolve the main issues I had with Ada -- "Careful now!" Er... the minor kerfuffles I had with Miss Wong's dress... There's significantly less distortion because the dress mesh is untampered with except for rotations. I suspect if I tried to rotate the dress in XPS perpendicular to the body (that is, rolling it up) it would unfurl more accurately. Perhaps I should try that for a different render with Miss Wong. "Good boy." Thank you. This sounds like a little job to do in XPS as a standard dress pose to import into Blender to complement the actual main body pose.
