Introducing Ada Wong

Description

Conception: Well, I wanted to add Ada to my model library but for various reasons it didn't work out. In the end... this!

Method: In XPS, load Ada model, create a pose, save.
Import model into Blender, remove doubles from meshes, smooth meshes, set up nodes and apply textures, import pose, render.

Commentary: For those of you (yes, you) who delve into Scraps, you (still you) will have noticed Ada making an appearance there. The main issue I had is the poses tend to be created for DOA models rather than T-pose models. Ada is a T-pose model so the poses don't work on her correctly. Truthfully, in knowing the values of displacement for the shoulders and thighs it should be a simple case of readjusting those values accordingly. I may be amiss somewhere there as it didn't quite work out that way. After much faffing around to recreate the intention of the original poses I started with I effectively gave up on them. So instead I decided to create a very simplistic pose from scratch (hence the lack of vibrancy this has). At the very least I'm in more control over this and I make more of a contribution artistically (for what it's worth) rather than just relying on other people's work (as I do for the vast majority of what I do).

One different thing is the shoes. As standard they came out a funny red and white streaky colour. No, not pink. Have a tiny bit of understanding of what the Fac value does, I adjusted the value in the node so it would allow more of one input than the other. I suspected it gave too much to the specular map and I wanted more of the diffuse map. By adjusting the value to reflect this it gave the above result for the shoes. In all honesty, I'm rather pleased about it. (Except for her right arm, that looks rather off.)

Sure, the pose isn't special, I don't port, I don't really understand Blender, but I can put together the bits I do know to produce a little something. Certainly not the most spectacular but using the tools I have managed to collect to some effect. Hopefully at some point I'll be able to create something which is more original.

Mind you, I really wanted to get Ada in her red dress... "You need to fire your wardrobe department. Why am I wearing work clothes for a photoshoot?" But... I can't keep affording the compensation for terminating their contracts early...
